Delete Your Sonder Account

This page explains how to delete your Sonder account and what happens to your data when you do. This procedure satisfies Apple App Store Guideline 5.1.1(v), Google Play account deletion requirements, and your right to erasure under GDPR Article 17 and KVKK Article 7.

How to delete your account

Option 1 — In the Sonder app (recommended)

  1. Open the Sonder app on iOS or Android
  2. Go to Settings → Account
  3. Tap Delete Account
  4. Confirm by typing DELETE
  5. Tap Confirm Permanent Deletion

The deletion request is sent immediately. Deletion is immediate and irreversible. Your account and all personal data are permanently deleted on all your devices the moment you confirm.

Option 2 — Via the web (without opening the app)

If you can no longer access the app (e.g. you uninstalled it, or you signed up with Sign in with Apple and revoked access), you can request deletion using the form below:

After you submit the form, we will send a verification e-mail to the address you provided. Click the link in that e-mail (valid for 15 minutes) to confirm. Your account and all personal data are permanently deleted upon confirmation.

Option 3 — By e-mail

If both options above are unavailable to you, e-mail [email protected] from the e-mail address registered to your Sonder account, with the subject line: Delete my Sonder account. We will respond within 7 business days to confirm the deletion request.


What gets deleted

When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed from Sonder’s production systems:

Notification preferences Immediate
Database backups containing your data Within 90 days

“Immediate” means the data is permanently deleted from production storage at the moment of your request. Deletion is final at the moment of request and cannot be reversed.


What is preserved (and why)

Some limited data is kept after account deletion for legal or operational reasons:

Financial records (subscription invoices, payment receipts) Required by Turkish Tax Procedure Law and the laws of the country where you purchased 10 years
Anonymous aggregate cohort metrics (no link to your identity) Retained indefinitely for product analytics — contains no personal data and cannot be linked back to you Indefinite
Limited security logs Detection and prevention of fraud, abuse, or unauthorized access 90 days
Customer support correspondence (only if you contacted us) Legal record-keeping 2 years

These records are stored in a separate, isolated archive and are not used for any purpose other than legal compliance or product analytics.


Subscriptions

If you have an active Sonder Premium subscription:


Confirmation

We will send a confirmation e-mail to your registered address when:

  1. The deletion request is received and your account is permanently deleted (immediate)
  2. The deletion has propagated to backups (within 90 days)

Children’s accounts

If you are a parent or guardian and need to delete a Sonder account belonging to someone in your care, e-mail [email protected] with details. We will assist promptly.


Your other rights

In addition to deletion, you have several other rights regarding your data, including the right of access, rectification, restriction, portability, and objection. See our Privacy Policy — Section 9 for details.

You may also contact the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK Kurumu) at https://www.kvkk.gov.tr or your local data protection authority if you believe your rights are not being respected.
